Shooter's Lodge is located on the Miramichi River in Upper Blackville in Central New Brunswick. Shooter's Lodge is family owned and operated and is not just a business, but a family getaway as well. The Lodge is a fully functioning camp with electricity and running water. We have 5 comfortable, private bedrooms, a full bath, kitchen/living area, screened in porch, large deck, satellite TV and lots of room to relax. We are rated 3.5 stars by Canada Select.
Spring Bear season starts in late April and finishes at the end of June. We hunt 4 weeks of the season (last week of May and the first 3 weeks in June) and cater to small groups of 2-3 hunters per week. This allows us to give a personal service that clients deserve. My goal is to provide my clients with the same experience that I would expect to get from outfitter.
The majority of my bear baits are 20-25 yards from the stands for archery hunters. The stands are large enough to easily seat 2 people and built to accommodate comfortable chairs. If a hunter has a favorite chair, such as an archery swivel chair etc., they are encouraged to bring it. However, we do provide chairs.
I maintain several sites for moose and place mineral licks out in early spring. We have had a good success rate with family and friends who have hunted moose with us. All new hunters are required to have successfully completed a Hunters Safety Course and Archery Course if they are using a bow or crossbow. I began hunting and trapping when I was in my early teens. It soon became a passion of mine, spending as much time as I could in the woods. I began taking friends to hunt whitetail deer, then moose and black bear.
Shooter's Lodge was established in 2002 with my best friend. It was a dream to have a camp where we could spend time with family and friends, hunting, fishing and enjoying the outdoors. I have been a licensed guide for almost 40 years and have hunted in the area where the lodge is located for the past 25 years.
I retired from my career in policing and with my wife Mary by my side, I took the step and established Shooter's Lodge Outfitting.
